it has happened again

how exactly does it happen, that my mind is able to deceive itself so naturally?

this morning i again awoke, pleasantly confused, from a rather involved and perplexing dream. for a large part of the dream, the chef and i were teammates in a quiz of sorts - i was, of course, perfectly comfortable in the pairing, having all manner of confidence in our intellectual abilities. since awakening, however, i find myself mystified as to how my mind could have generated the questions for such a contest. only one question has survived my memory (or, lack thereof); perhaps it will offer the reader insight regarding my particular madness.

the question involved a wall of items, from which we were to deduce artistic intent. the wall was shrouded in a dimness associated with candlelight, but upon close inspection one could discern that it was covered with items which could summarily be described as distateful: squash buzzing with gnats, wilted celery stalks, broken toys, and rotten tomatoes. in the center, was a print-ad for the latest episode of "the simple life."

p.s. - yes, yes, of course we ended up winning.  what the prize was, i can't recall...
