a holiday tip

looking for software to retouch those holiday photographs? can't bring yourself to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for photoshop?

then accept this holiday gift from the free software foundation: the GIMP (gnu image manipulation program). if you've used photoshop before, you'll find the interface quite easy to use. if you haven't, then you can rest assured that it is just as capable. it runs on multiple platforms (windows, linux, unix), too. more information here: <http://gimp.org>

since many of you might not feel comfortable building source code, there is an installer for windows here: <http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net>. note that you will have to install a couple of items - they each have installers, however, so it makes it quite easy.

you can check out other offerings from the free software foundation (GNU project) here: <http://gnu.org>
